Black Colleges Guide

As one of North Carolina's three engineering universities, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (A&T) State University is a public, comprehensive, land grant university. Extending over 188 beautiful acres at the center of North Carolina's Piedmont region, the campus is just nine blocks from downtown, and the area's mix of industry with schools and universities contribute to the city's economic and cultural diversity.

North Carolina A&T has nearly 7,500 students and it is the nation's leader among colleges and universities that graduate minorities with degrees in science, mathematics, engineering and technology. It is also one of the largest producers of Certified Public Accountants among historically Black colleges and universities.

Many notable alumni have graduated from North Carolina A&T, including the late Dr. Ronald McNair who died in the space Shuttle Explosion; Reverend Jesse L. Jackson and US Representative Jesse L. Jackson, Jr.; Brigadier General Clara Adams-Ender, retired Major; Dr. Joe Dudley owner of Dudley Products, Inc.; and North Carolina legislators Alma Adams and Bill Martin, among many others.

The college's expansive campus allows for several both student and administrative structures such as the Benbow, Frazier, Coltrane, Cherry, and Graham Halls; Fort Research Center; and the Dudley Memorial Building.
